I started Soap Sushi in 2007 after closing another online business, LuNa Beads. I had been making glass beads and selling them online since, oh, about 1998. I did this full time beginning in February of 2000. Beads were fun, but over the years I began to feel burned out. The creativity just was not flowing to me anymore.
Soapmaking has always been something I loved. I finally gathered up my courage to make real soap (with lye!!) several years ago and was hooked! I find myself coming up with new soaps all the time. You'd never think soap could be so compelling, but it really has become an obsession for me.
Soap is the perfect gift. My grandmothers are the toughest ladies to buy for. They have seen it all, and not much impresses them anymore. When I started making soap years ago, I began giving them the soaps I made. They loved it! What was even better: they could use it, enjoy it, and it would be gone. No clutter in their houses! About the time they used up all of the soap I had given them the last time, it would be gift-giving time again. And they made sure they dropped tons of hints that they wanted more soap.
So, not only do I make "soaps," but I make the perfect gifts for all of the hard-to-buy-for people on your list. And if your list is like mine, that's everyone on it!
I release new products every month, so make sure you bookmark me and visit often to see what new ways of getting clean I have invented!
